5 Awesome Preschool Math Apps for iPhone

  • 257

I love my iPhone, and not only because it makes my kid happy to sit in the shopping cart (although that’s a big bonus). I really love that it helps teach my son essential preschool skills in what would otherwise be wasted moments. Are you looking for an app that will help your preschooler learn math concepts? Here’s 5 great ones we’ve personally tried and love (AND are rated 4+ stars on the app store!).

1. Park Math

Best for ages: 2 to 6
This multiple award-winning app has 7 different games that involve counting, addition, subtraction, quantities, sorting, and patterns. There are also two difficulty levels, which makes it easy enough for the very youngest preschoolers, and challenging enough for the older ones. $1.99

2. Intro to Math

Best for ages: 3 to 6
These Montessori-style learning games instill a deep understanding of numbers and quantity. Activiites include sorting red rods, number rods, and sandpaper numbers. This app is good for developing fine motor control, but may be frustrating for younger kids. $4.99

3. Number Sense

Best for ages: 4 to 7
Although this app is designed for kindergartners, a lot of younger kids will be able to play. The engaging activities include comparing numbers, counting to 30, addition and subtraction, and connecting the dots. Great for challenging preschoolers who have mastered more basic math games. $1.99

4. Math Easy

Best for ages: 4 to 7
Eight interactive puzzle games make learning math fun while teaching kids to count, add, subtract numbers 1-20, identify even and odd numbers, and even multiply small amounts. The games are intuitive and the instructions are easy to follow. $0.99

5. BugMath

Best for ages: 3 to 6
Explore the world of math with alien Ug-Ug. Interactive mini games teach counting, sorting, sequencing, addition and subtraction skills. I love that the counting game reinforces numbers 11-20 along with the numerals and words. $1.99
